SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota senior libero Anne Rasmussen has been named the Summit League defensive player of the week, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Rasmussen, a native of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, earns her third straight defensive player of the week honor. She totaled 32 digs in two matches averaging 4.57 digs per set as the Coyotes opened Summit League play with a four-set win over Oral Roberts and a three-set win over North Dakota.
 
Rasmussen, honored for the ninth time in her career, had 18 digs and seven assists in the win over Oral Roberts and registered 14 digs and six assists against North Dakota.
 
This season the reigning Summit League Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 4.71 digs per set, which tops the league statistics in that category.
 
"Anne is someone that will keep learning throughout the season," coach Leanne Williamson said. "She is constantly looking for things to improve on to better herself and the team.
 
"I am excited that she has been recognized again for her work, but she continues to not be satisfied."
 
The Coyotes, 13-1 overall and 2-0 in Summit League play, host Omaha on Friday before traveling to Denver on Sunday.
