Coyotes push win streak to 19

OMAHA, Nebraska – in a volleyball match that featured 48 ties and 23 lead changes, South Dakota prevailed over Omaha to push its school-record win streak to 19 on Friday inside Baxter Arena.
 
After dropping the first set 25-27, the Coyotes won the next three 26-24, 25-21, 25-14 to win the match and move to 22-1 overall and remain unbeaten at 11-0 in Summit League play.
 
The closely contested contest saw the biggest lead of four points in the first set and just two points in the second set, both sets going to extra points.
 
South Dakota's defense got stronger in sets three and four, limiting Omaha to hitting percentages under .100 in the final two sets. For the match, Omaha became the 13th straight opponent to fail to hit at least .200 in a match against the Coyotes, finishing at .160.
 
The Coyotes outscored the Mavericks 5-1 to close out set three, finished off by a Brooklyn Bollweg ace, and proceeded to end the match by scoring the final seven points of the fourth set, part of a 14-2 close.
 
Sami Slaughter paced South Dakota offensively with 16 kills, Elizabeth Juhnke provided 13 kills and 13 digs while Madison Harms posted a career-high with 11 kills and hit an even .500 in the win.
 
Maddie Wiedenfeld added six kills and a .385 hitting percentage in the win as the Coyotes tallied 55 kills and a .255 team hitting percentage.
 
Madison Jurgens provided 45 assists, four kills and 11 digs while defensively the Coyotes had four reach double figures in kills. Anne Rasmussen led the way with 24 while Lolo Weideman had 10.
 
South Dakota will host Denver on Sunday for a Noon start in a matchup of the top two teams in the Summit League standings.
