VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's basketball remains on top of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll for the second-straight week. The Coyotes host No. 3 Drake at 7 p.m. Wednesday inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center (
tickets).
The Coyotes are ranked for the 33rd consecutive poll and earn the No. 1 spot for just the third time. South Dakota has never before been ranked No. 1 in consecutive polls. The Coyotes received 25 of the 31 first-place votes.
South Dakota is coming off a pair of gritty road wins, traveling 4,114 miles in week one to earn victories over Northeastern and Green Bay. The last time the Coyotes started off a season with back-to-back road wins was 2006-07. Senior guard
Ciara Duffy picked up Summit League Player of the Week accolades after averaging 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists during the pair of games.
South Dakota is home for three of its next four games, hosting a trio of 2019 NCAA Tournament teams over a two-week span.
