SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota junior
Zack Anderson has been named the Summit League Athlete of the Week for the period ended Feb. 3.
Anderson nets the award for the second time this season and in his career. The junior leaped over 7-3 ¾ in the men's high jump at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet on Saturday inside the DakotaDome. The height broke a 12-year-old DakotaDome facility record by a half an inch. It also breaks his own USD program record from earlier this season.
Additionally, South Dakota leads the nation in the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association's event squad rankings for the men's high jump. Anderson's joined by teammates
Jack Durst,
Deshonn Brown and
Travis Larson for a combined height of 7-0 ½.
Durst recorded the program's second-best height in history with a 7-2 ½ jump also at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet. Brown and Larson both cleared 6-9 ¾ at the Jack Johnson Classic.
South Dakota's track and field team is split between two meets this weekend. The Coyotes take on the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, along with the SDSU Classic in Brookings, South Dakota.
