Women’s soccer announces summer camp dates

WS: Camps

VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota women's soccer has announced camp dates for July with an academy spanning one day a week for three weeks and a team atmosphere with an individual component.

Residential Elite Individual Camp (July 21-23)
Individuals ($320) will go through three training sessions over the first two days, with two more sessions on the final day along with an evening activity. All training sessions are taken from the South Dakota women's soccer training program. For field players, tactical topics include 1v1 attacking and defending, creating numbers up situations, speed of play, combination play and becoming a better goal scorer. Tactical topics for goalkeepers include reading the game, organizing the defense, dead ball situations, communication and staying connected to the team.

The residential elite camp also has team components for full teams wishing to register. Those include an elite team camp (teams of 11 or more/$305 per player) which has all three training sessions and the evening activity. A team preseason camp ($60 per player) includes training and scrimmages.

USD Soccer Academy (July 10, 17, 24)
The academy takes place over three days for one price ($30) focusing on the development of basic technical skills and tactical awareness, serving as a primer for the high school season. The camp will emphasize personalized instruction as well as small-sided games to help each player get the maximum number of touches in the most efficient and developmentally appropriate training environment.

The academy is open to grades 7-12 and for both girls (5:30-7 p.m.) and boys (7-8:30 p.m.).
