Jack Cochrane of Mount Vernon, Iowa, is one of 53 players named to the FCS Athletics Directors Association's 22
nd Annual Academic All-Star Team.

Cochrane and the others were selected from a pool of nearly 120 applicants. He is also part of a Missouri Valley Football Conference contingency that led all conferences with nine selections.

"The accomplishments of this group of young men are truly remarkable," said FCS ADA President Kent Haslam, who also serves as director of athletics at the University of Montana. "They excel on the field, in the classroom and in their communities. I congratulate them, along with all those who have provided critical support along the way, on this tremendous honor."

Cochrane carries a 4.0 grade point average while studying criminal justice and business administration. He plans on attending law school once his collegiate career is complete. On the field, he was the Valley's leading tackler during the regular season with 106 stops, which included three sacks and seven tackles-for-loss. He also led the Coyotes with two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Nominees are required to have a minimum 3.2 GPA, been a starter or key reserve, and have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at their nominated institution. They must also have completed in 50 percent of the games played at their designated position.
