South Dakota defensive backs coach
Miles Taylor and senior tennis player Habiba Aly are guests on this week's "YoteCast," the official podcast of Coyote athletics hosted by John Thayer.
Â
Taylor was named defensive backs coach at USD this past summer following a brilliant playing career at University of Iowa followed by two more seasons in Iowa City as a graduate assistant coach.
Â
On this week's episode, Taylor talks about how he arrived in Iowa City from his hometown of Silver Spring, Maryland. He also touches on his transition from player to coach, how the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship helped propel him forward, what attracted him to USD, and his goals for his group of defensive backs.
Â
Aly is the host of "Drop A Pin," a show for GoYotes.com in which she hosts a casual one-on-one conversation with an international student-athlete. The show debuted Tuesday with guest Tasos Kamateros from the men's basketball team and Athens, Greece.
Â
Aly, who hails from Cairo, Egypt, talks about life as an international student-athlete during the pandemic, how she found USD, how "Drop A Pin" came to be and what her parents thought of the first episode.
Â
The episode starts as it usually does with a conversation with athletic director
David Herbster. He highlights the first week of basketball practice, recent NCAA decisions on winter sports eligibility and one-time transfer rules, and initial thoughts on the Summit League's proposed basketball schedule format.
