VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota athletics, the new voice of Coyote football John Thayer, KVHT radio, and Learfield IMG College present Coyote Classics, a series of audio replays of thrilling Coyote football victories from recent seasons.
This week's installment, which debuts Saturday from 1-3 p.m., features the
Coyotes' 31-28 Dakota Days victory against third-ranked Youngstown State on Oct. 7, 2017. It was South Dakota's third straight win against a top-20 team and ultimately propelled the program to a No. 4 national ranking, its highest at the FCS level. Chris Streveler threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns. His favorite target was Shamar Jackson, who tied a program record with 11 receptions and set a new record with 229 yards receiving. In the end, it was a late drive and a 29-yard field goal from Ryan Weese with seven seconds left that sent Coyote fans home happy.
Thayer will lead fans through a condensed replay and hosts discussions with both Nielson and Jackson.
