South Dakota travels to take on Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. -- The South Dakota men finish up a two-game road trip when they take on Omaha on Sunday at noon inside Baxter Arena. 

The Game
The Coyotes are winners of their last 6-of-7 as well as riding a four-game win streak. South Dakota defeated Omaha 91-81 in the first meeting of the season on Jan. 11. 

The Mavericks 
Omaha currently sits in third place with a conference record of 5-2 and an overall record of 12-10. 

Omaha started conference play with a three-game win streak and stood as the lone undefeated team in the conference. Then they made the short trip up to Vermillion, South Dakota, and the Yotes came away with a 91-81 win to snap the Mavericks win streak. Omaha has won 2-of-3 since last time the two teams played and enter on a two-game win streak after defeating Western Illinois and Purdue Fort Wayne.

The Mavericks average 73.2 points a game while giving up 76.2 points a contest. As a team, Omaha shoots 45 percent from the field and 35 percent from deep. 

UNO is led by a trio of players averaging double-figures. JT Gibson leads the trio with 14.6 points while KJ Robinson and Matt Pile average 14.4 points and 12.1, respectively. 

The Mavericks own a 10-0 home court record this season and are owners of a 16-game home win streak dating back to last season. 

In its 10 home games this season, Omaha has averaged 80.6 points per contest while holding its opponents to 69.2 points for an 11.4 point margin of victory. The Mavericks shoot 51 percent from the field while holding opponents to 40 percent. As a team, UNO has a 3.5 rebound margin and average 37.4 rebounds a contest. 

Gibson averages 16.4 points in the 10 home games while Pile has recorded 15.4 points a contest and Robinson rounds out the double-figure scoring with 15.3 points a game. 

The Coyotes (15-8, 6-3 SL)
South Dakota enters on a four-game win streak after beating Denver this past week. USD is also winners of its last 6-of-7 and sit in fourth place in the conference standings. 

Tyler Hagedorn leads the team with 19.1 points per game which ranks first in the Summit. Stanley Umude averages 16.7 points which rank seventh in the League as well. Cody Kelley (10.9), Triston Simpson (11.8) and Tyler Peterson (11.1) round out the starting five that all average in double figures for the Yotes. USD is one of 17 Division I schools that have five players average in double figures. 

As a team, the Yotes average  78.7 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the field and 41 percent from deep. 

The Series
The Coyotes hold a 58-50 all-time record against the Mavericks while Omaha leads 29-20 with games played in Omaha. UNO swept the season series last season, but previous to last season the Yotes won three straight

One Last Thing
Tyler Hagedorn, the nation's leader in 3-point percentage, has made a 3-pointer in his last 10 games and 13-out-of-14 games. Hagedorn also connected on three or more 3-pointers, 11 times this season. The only time as a team this season the Coyotes have not made a 3-pointer was against Northern Colorado (0-8).
