SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota junior shortstop
Lauren Eamiguel (Mesa, Arizona) has been named the Summit League Softball Player of the Week for the second straight week after extending her hitting streak to 10 games at a tournament hosted by University of New Mexico. It is the third time during her career Eamiguel has earned the award.
Eamiguel went 4-for-5 in a game against New Mexico Saturday, becoming the first Coyote to register four hits in a game since 2017. In five games at the Lobo Classic, she posted a .556 average with 10 hits and 10 RBIs. Additionally, she scored four runs, stole two bases and had a .579 on-base percentage.
Eamiguel's 10-game hitting streak is the second-longest by a Coyote since 2015. She's batting .625 (20-for-32) during the streak with 16 RBIs and 10 runs scored. Eamiguel has the second-best average in the Summit at .414, trailing only teammate
Jordyn Pender, and her 21 RBIs rank third.
South Dakota improved to 11-10 overall with a 3-2 showing in Albuquerque. The Coyotes resume play Friday with the first of five games at a tournament hosted by University of Arizona in Tucson.
