Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple is a guest on this week's "YoteCast", the official podcast of Coyote athletics hosted by John Thayer.
Douple is in his 16
th year as Summit League Commissioner. The League has added seven new members in that span and will welcome St. Thomas University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Douple and Thayer start back in March and reflect on the missed opportunities to compete for women's basketball, Chris Nilsen and many other Coyote student-athletes. He touches on a tumultuous summer in working through the pandemic, and the many schedule models his staff has worked through. Douple says schedules could be announced as early as next week when championship information is finalized.
This week's podcast also features USD running backs coach and former Coyote quarterback
Dante Warren who discusses the initial reception of the new locker room and players' lounge and how they have impacted recruiting. He also discusses how players, coaches and staff have rolled with the ever-evolving 2020-21 academic year.
We start as we typically do with athletic director
David Herbster. Thayer asks Herbster about the Valley's spring football schedule release and some of the details surrounding the Friday, Friday, Thursday start. He also talks testing, whether he thinks fans will be able to watch in the spring, and perhaps an intrasquad scrimmage at the end of fall practice.
