YoteCast featuring Lolo and Ethan

Bray, Weideman join YoteCast

01.21.2021

Senior pole vaulter Ethan Bray and junior defensive specialist Lolo Weideman are the guests for this week's YoteCast, the official podcast of Coyote athletics hosted by John Thayer.

Bray tied his indoor best vault of 18-feet-1-inch at Saturday's USD Invitational, a winning height that ranks third nationally. It's also the mark that led him to qualify for last year's indoor national championship meet. Bray talks to John about the cancellation of that meet while he was waiting in his hotel room in Albuquerque, what led him to USD, and what it was like training alongside Chris Nilsen. He also discusses his future aspirations.

We learn whether or not Lolo is actually Weideman's first name and we think you will appreciate the story there. She also talks about last year's unprecendented team success, the excitement surrounding this new campaign, and how growing up in a small town helped lead her to USD.

We start as we always do with USD Athletic Director David Herbster who talks about recent headlines including the Summit's League's decision to move the men's and women's basketball tournament to the Pentagon with no fans present. He also discusses the work on the new Valley football schedule and reducing the time between games in February basketball doubleheaders.

YoteCast is available across a variety of platforms: Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Sticher. A new episode debuts every week. Subscribe on your favorite platform so you never miss an episode.

Thayer is in his eighth year with the Coyote Sports Network by Learfield IMG College. He moved into the play-by-play role for Coyote football and men's basketball this season after spending seven years as the voice of Coyote women's basketball and a sideline reporter for football.
