VERMILLION, S.D. – Senior
Tiannah Moore recorded her first career hattrick Friday night at the First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex as the Yotes defeated St. Thomas 4-0 to start off conference play. The hat trick was the Coyotes first since Oct. 31, 2019, when Kellee Willer recorded one against Oral Roberts.
With the win the Yotes move to 6-1-2 overall while moving to 1-0 in conference play. The Tommies move to 2-6-1 and 0-1 in conference play.
How it Happened
- In the ninth minute, Moore gave the Yotes an early 1-0 after placing a ball over the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper for her first of the season and 10th of her career.
- Shortly after in the 34th minute, Moore struck once again after fifth year senior Maddison Sullivan placed a beautiful through ball pasted two Tommie defenders to a wide open Moore in the middle of the box. Moore went top left corner for her second goal of the day.
- Just when you thought two goals was a lot, Moore followed up with her first career hat trick shortly into the second half. Sullivan was once again on the assist placing a pass through the defenders to more in the box.
- Scoring the Yotes fourth and final goal was Alexis Mitchell on a penalty kick just over a minute after the previous goal. Moore wasn't the one who scored but was tripped up in the box to give the Yotes the penalty kick.
