The Game
South Dakota plays Tennessee State at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion.

The Coyotes
South Dakota (2-1) continues its three-game home stand. The Coyotes held on for a 71-68 win Friday night over Southern.
Xavier Fuller got to the foul line late in the game and finished with a season-high 20 points. His career-best is 22.
Erik Oliver provided 11 points off the bench. USD led 37-26 at the half and by as much as 13 in the second half before holding of a late Jaguar charge.
The Tigers
Tennessee State has started off the season with a 1-2 record. Two Tigers are returning of the three main scorers from last season. The team is currently being led in scoring by Dedric Boyd (16.0), Christian Brown (12.3) and Carlos Marshall Jr. (11.7). The Tigers also are returning lead scorer from the 2020-21 season Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. In their home opener against Fisk they won in 111-56, with Tennessee State going on a 16-0 run in the first half.
The Series
This is the second meeting between the two schools in over 60 years. The first time the two programs met was at the start of the 1960-61 season. The game was held at the Armory in Vermillion, where the Tigers came out on top in a 79-59 win against the Coyotes.
One Last Thing
Sunday night is the second game of the Nebraska MTE (multi-team event) for South Dakota. Southern and the Huskers are the other half of the four-team round-robin. Tennessee State goes to Nebraska while USD hosts Presentation on Tuesday.
