South Dakota head coach
Todd Lee welcomes an old friend in Bellarmine head coach Scott Davenport for a non-conference tilt Wednesday inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Lee started at Kentucky Wesleyan at the same time Davenport began at Bellarmine ahead of the 2005-06 season. The duo squared off 20 times for their respective teams at the Division II level. The two coaches meet at the Division I level for the first time Wednesday.

The Coyotes
South Dakota (6-4) stayed unbeaten at home this season with an overtime win against Northern Arizona Saturday. The Coyotes moved to 5-0 at home this season and 59-9 all-time in their new facility.
Xavier Fuller matched a season-high with 20 points while
Mason Archambault achieved his first collegiate double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Wednesday is the final non-conference bout for South Dakota, which opens Summit League play Monday at home against Oral Roberts.

The Knights
Bellarmine (5-6) is in its second season in Division I after joining the ASUN Conference in 2020-21. In its first D1 season, Bellarmine went 14-8 overall and finished second in the ASUN with a 10-3 conference mark. Much of that team is back including senior, first-team all-conference guard Dylan Penn who leads the team in both scoring (15.7 ppg) and assists (5.5 apg). Bellarmine has faced top-10 teams Purdue, Gonzaga and UCLA this season.

The Series
This is the second meeting between South Dakota and Bellarmine. The first meeting was a 68-66 Coyote victory in Vermillion on Jan. 4, 1966.

South Dakota hosts Oral Roberts Monday and Kansas City Wednesday next week before the holiday break. Both are 7 p.m. tips inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
