Friday night hoops with Coyote men

The Game
South Dakota men's basketball hosts Waldorf for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Friday night inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion.

Fans can tune into the game on the Coyote Sports Network with John Thayer on the call, with the radio broadcast carried on KVHT 106.3 FM in Yankton/Vermillion and KQSF 95.7 in Sioux Falls, or by using The Varsity Network app. A free live stream of the game will be available on GoYotes.com.

The Coyotes
Just four nonconference games remain ahead of Summit League play, three of them are at home and the first in the stretch is Friday's evening tilt with Waldorf. South Dakota (4-3) couldn't find its first road win at Nebraska or San Jose State, but remains unbeaten at home. Mason Archambault has made nine 3-pointers over the last two games and is coming off a career-high 21 points at San Jose State. Kruz Perrott-Hunt continues to lead the team in scoring.

The Warriors
Waldorf, an NAIA program from Forest City, Iowa, is 2-7 on its young season. The Warriors are led by senior guard Quincy Minor Jr., who is averaging 14 points per game. He leads five Waldorf starters averaging between nine and 14 points a night. The Warriors are making seven 3-pointers a game on average and shooting 40 percent from the field.

The Series
This is the second matchup between these two programs. South Dakota defeated Waldorf 84-59 in Vermillion during the 2012-13 campaign.

One Last Thing
South Dakota ranks among the nation's best at getting to the charity stripe. Four Coyotes – Perrott-Hunt, Archambault, Xavier Fuller and Hunter Goodrick – rank in the Summit's top-10 for free-throw attempts. Archambault has the 17th-best free-throw percentage in the nation at 93.8 percent.
