Three Coyotes earn Summit weekly awards

02.16.2021

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota senior Ethan Bray, sophomore Brithton Senior and freshman Sara Reifenrath have been named the Summit League Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the period ended Feb. 14.

Bray vaulted a lifetime best height of 18-5 ¼ (5.62m) at the Division I Challenge hosted by Washburn in Topeka, Kansas. The mark is four inches better than his previous best indoor mark. He ranks fourth in the NCAA with the height and tops the Summit. Bray is just the second athlete in league history to vault past 18-5 indoors.

A native of Fishers, Indiana, Bray picks up back-to-back Summit Field Athlete of the Week honors. It marks his third career weekly honor.

Senior captured the 60-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 7.79 seconds at the Division I Challenge. He topped a field that included three men's hurdlers ranked in the NCAA's top-25. The time moves him to 10th in the nation for the event. He owns the top Summit mark this year as the only league athlete to clock under eight seconds in the event.

Hailing from Hanover, Jamaica, Senior nets back-to-back weekly Summit honors. He has earned the Summit Track Athlete of the Week honor for the fifth time in his career.

Reifenrath blazed past a 20-year-old school record in the 400 meters with a time of 54.33 seconds. She won both the 400 and anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay at the Division I Challenge on Friday. Reifenrath is the only Summit athlete who leads the league in three events this season (200m, 400m, 4x400m). Her 400-meter time from the weekend ranks 42nd in the NCAA.

A native of Hartington, Nebraska, Reifenrath picks up her second Summit track weekly honor of the season and her career.

The Coyotes are scheduled to compete at the SDSU Last Chance meet at 1 p.m. Saturday in Brookings, South Dakota.
