The Summit League Food Fight is On!

02.04.2021

VERMILLION, S.D.—The Summit League Food Fight, an annual competition between conference members founded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, will run February through March in an effort to collect food for local food pantries.

This year's competition runs for two months as opposed to the traditional two weeks, and all donations will be collected online thru YouGiveGoods.com. All food donations from South Dakota's YouGiveGoods page will be shipped directly to the Vermillion Food Pantry.

"The Summit League Food Fight is a great opportunity each year for our student-athletes to challenge our fans to help us fill a need in Vermillion and Clay County," said South Dakota Senior Associate Athletic Director Jamie Oyen, who works directly with the Coyotes' SAAC committee.

"As much as we try to win the Food Fight each year, our biggest win is being able to help restock the shelves at the Vermillion Food Pantry. I hope all our Coyote fans will consider supporting the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during this year's competition."

Donors can purchase food in the name of a specific Coyote team, and that team will get credit in the Food Fight for those donations. USD football and triathlon are able to participate as well as this competition is not limited to Summit League sponsored sports.

The Summit League school that collects the most total pounds of food thru YouGiveGoods.com will win the Food Fight.
