The South Dakota Coyotes will host Kansas City in a pair of Summit League volleyball matches in a battle of the top two teams in the league standings. Friday's match begins at 7 p.m. and Saturday's match has a 7 p.m. first serve.
THE COYOTES
South Dakota (11-4, 10-1 in Summit) enters the weekend riding a seven-match win streak, including last weekend's road win over Denver.
Elizabeth Juhnke ranks second in the Summit League in kills per set (4.17).
Madison Harms leads the Summit League and ranks 16th nationally in blocks per set at 1.45. Junior setter
Madison Jurgens averages 10.05 per set.
Lolo Weideman, the junior libero, averages 4.45 digs per set.
KANSAS CITY
The Roos (11-1, 11-1 in Summit) have won nine straight contests in its first season back in the Summit League since 2012. Melanie Brecka, a 6-foot junior, leads the Summit League in kills/set (4.31). Senior setter Alli Schomers leads the Summit League in assists/set (10.78). Libero Maddie Renn averages 4.35 digs/set.
THE SERIES
The two teams have meet eight times previously as Division I opponents with South Dakota holding a 5-3 edge. The Coyotes have won the last four in the series. Kansas City is facing USD in Vermillion for the first time since 2016, which was the second match ever in the then newly-christened Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
