Four Coyotes Earn All-Summit Recognition

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced its end of the season soccer awards on Wednesday ahead of the conference tournament. Alexis Mitchell, Taylor Cotter, Emma Harkleroad and Taylor Ravelo received all-Summit honors.
 
Mitchell was selected to the first team while Cotter, Harkleroad and Ravelo were named to the second team. Ravelo was also selected for the all-Newcomer team. South Dakota's four selections to the first and second teams were its most since joining the Summit League. The Coyotes' four selections to the first and second teams trailed only Denver and South Dakota State who finished one and two in the standings.
 
 
Mitchell earned first team honors for the first time in her career after being selected to the second team last season. Mitchell leads the team with seven goals and ranks second on the team with four assists. A four-year player, Mitchell recorded 18 points this season, which also leads the team. She recorded 29 shots with 13 on goal and is 1-of-2 on penalty kicks on the season. Her seven goals rank fourth in the conference.
 
Cotter earns her first career all-Summit League honors with the second-team selection. The junior ranks second in the conference with eight assists and 10th in the nation. She moved into second place all-time with eight assists recorded in a single season at USD. She has started all 16 games on the season and has recorded two goals and is third on the team with 12 points. Cotter has 35 shots with 15 on goal on the season.
 
Harkleroad is the second of three Yotes to earn all-Summit League honors for the first time. The Geneva, Illinois, native recorded 12 games between the pipes and totaled 41 saves on the season. She recorded four shutouts including three straight against NDSU and UND. She recorded a 78.8 save percentage on the season while having a 0.89 goals against average. Her goals against average ranked third in the conference while her total shutouts ranked third as well.
 
Ravelo earned all-Summit League second team honors and all-Newcomer team honors. This is the second straight season the Coyotes have had a freshman earn all-Newcomer honors. Ravelo has been a huge factor on the backline for the Yotes all season. The Lakewood, California, native has played in all 16 games and has started in 13. She ranks third on the team with five goals and has eight of her 13 shots on goal on the season.
 

South Dakota closed the regular season on a six game win streak while winning its last eight of 10. The Yotes clinched the fourth seed in the conference tournament, marking the second time they have qualified for the tournament. South Dakota will face top seeded Denver at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Caniglia Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
