SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— South Dakota volleyball player
Elizabeth Juhnke has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League September Peak Performer of the Month, the league announced Wednesday.
Juhnke, a fourth-year junior from Lakeville, Minnesota, set a Summit League record for kills in a match in September, recording 39 kills in South Dakota's five-set match against North Dakota State. Her 39 kills were a career-high that set the USD program record and set a new mark for kills in a match in the NCAA this season. She continues to lead the league and the NCAA with 346 total kills this season.
A five-time offensive peak performer of the week this season, Juhnke averaged 5.52 kills per set for the month of September while hitting .312 with 276 total kills. The Coyotes now sit at 3-1 in the league with wins over Omaha, Denver, and South Dakota State and a five-set loss to NDSU.
"Elizabeth has not only had great performances, but she has put together great performances for long stretches," said head coach
Leanne Williamson. "I am proud of her dedication to getting better each day. She continues to learn and it is paying off for her and the team!"
This marks Juhnke's first Summit peak performer of the month honor and South Dakota's first honor of the 2022-23 academic year.
