Coyotes conclude home slate with Creighton

South Dakota steps out of Summit League play for an evening and will host Creighton in a 6 p.m. single game contest Tuesday at Nygaard Field. It serves as the final home game of the season for South Dakota.

It marks just the second time Creighton has visiting Vermillion since 1985. That drought ended in 2018. The two teams met four times in 2017 with the Coyotes sweeping the series. The Bluejays have won all four games since.

Creighton (14-24, 4-15 Big East) features one of the top hitters in the country in junior designated player Kailey Wilson who leads the Big East and ranks 26th nationally with a .425 batting average. The Bluejays enter on a 12-game skid, but you can't fault Wilson. She has batted .559 (19-for-34) during the streak.

South Dakota (23-20, 8-7 Summit) is trying to rebound from a three-game sweep this past weekend at home against Omaha. The Coyotes ran into a buzz saw in Maverick pitcher Kamryn Meyer. USD's offense will try to regroup against a Creighton staff with a 6.22 team ERA.

The Coyotes continue Summit play this weekend with a road trip to Macomb, Illinois, to face the Western Illinois Leathernecks in a three-game series starting Saturday.
