Coyotes top final CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll

VERMILLION, S.D.—For the second time in three seasons, South Dakota women's basketball tops the charts in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll at the conclusion of the season.

South Dakota (29-6) made history in the postseason, advancing to the program's first-ever Sweet 16 with NCAA Tournament wins over Ole Miss and Baylor. The Coyotes captured Summit League regular season and tournament titles. A trio of super seniors led the way – Summit League Player of the Year Chloe Lamb, Summit Defensive Player of the Year Hannah Sjerven and all-Summit pick Liv Korngable. All three averaged double-figures on the season and headlined a scoring defense that ranked eighth in the nation.

The Coyotes have been ranked in the mid-major poll for 88 consecutive weeks dating back to the 2017-18 season. USD spent five weeks in the top-five of the mid-major poll this season, coming in at the top spot for the first time since the final poll of the 2020 season.

South Dakota also completed the season No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast and Western Athletic.
