Harms named Summit Offensive Peak Performer of the Week

11.07.2023

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— South Dakota fifth-year senior Madison Harms has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Volleyball Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Harms, honored for the eighth time in her career and second time this season, helped South Dakota to two-straight sweeps in league play last week. The Sergeant Bluff, Iowa native totaled 26 kills on a .605 hitting clip through six sets and averaged 4.33 kills per set.

The middle blocker had 12 kills on 16 attempts and just one error to hit .647 in USD's 3-0 win over St. Thomas on Thursday, her highest hitting percentage in a league match this season. On Saturday, Harms had 14 kills on 21 attempts to hit .571 in South Dakota's 3-0 win over North Dakota. She is hitting a league-best .363 percent so far on the season.

"Madison has done a great job of taking on more responsibility as the season progresses," said head coach Leanne Williamson. "This weekend, she found ways to score in a variety of ways. She played incredibly smart and was an option offensively in many situations. She continues to improve and has been a large part of our success!"

The Coyotes host their final full weekend of league play at home against Oral Roberts and North Dakota State. Thursday's first serve against Oral Roberts is set for 6 p.m. and the Yotes take on the Bison on Saturday at 4 p.m. On Nov. 14, South Dakota heads to Brookings to take on South Dakota State in the regular season finale at 7 p.m.
