Defensive trio named AP all-Americans

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota defensive players Brock Mogensen, Myles Harden and Brendan Webb were selected to the Associated Press FCS All-America team announced Tuesday. It is the first such honor for all three players.
 
Mogensen (Farmington, Minnesota) is a first-team selection. He is a sixth-year senior who started 48 games including 40 consecutively. Mogensen is the third Coyote linebacker to earn all-America honors since 2013. He was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year this season after leading the conference in tackles in league play.
 
Mogensen compiled 113 tackles this season which led the MVFC and ranks 13th nationally. Included in those numbers are a sack and 3.5 tackles-for-loss. Mogensen also had an interception and was credited with four hurries. His 399 career tackles in 50 games rank fourth in program history and third among active FCS players.
 
Harden (Miami Gardens, Florida) is South Dakota's first all-American cornerback since 2006. He is a fourth-year junior who recently declared for the NFL Draft.
 
Harden is a third-team honoree after locking down half the field again this season. He led the Coyotes with six pass breakups and his 58 tackles ranked fifth on the team. In 29 games at USD, Harden had six interceptions and 20 pass breakups. He forced five fumbles and recovered four.
 
Webb (Buhler, Kansas) is a sixth-year senior and a third-team all-America selection. He joins Darin Greenfield as USD all-American defensive ends at the FCS level.
 
Webb led the Valley and ranks ninth nationally with 9.5 sacks this season. He totaled 11.0 tackles-for-loss. Webb tied a program record this season with 4.0 sacks in one game and had 16.5 sacks and 26.0 tackles-for-loss during his career. He had 44 tackles this season and 107 at USD.
