The Coyotes
South Dakota (8-3) is riding a five-game winning streak into Martin. The Coyotes scored 100 point in back-to-back games for the first time in program history this week. South Dakota is led by junior do-it-all guard
Grace Larkins, who's featured on the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year preseason watch list. Larkins has averaged 20 points while shooting at a 64 percent clip during the Coyotes' five-game winning streak. Behind Larkins, the Coyotes have five players averaging between six and 10 points on the season.
On the defensive end of the floor, USD's perimeter defense has continued to shine with opponents averaging 21.2 percent behind the arc. The average tops the Summit and ranks fifth in the nation.
The Skyhawks
UT Martin (2-7), who has won six Ohio Valley regular season titles in head coach Kevin McMillan's 14 seasons, was picked fourth in the preseason OVC poll. The Skyhawks have been without preseason all-OVC pick Shae Littleford since the fourth game of the season. In her absence, the trio of redshirt-freshman Kenley McCarn, sophomore Anaya Brown and sophomore Lexi Rubel have stepped up to combine for 56.2 percent of the team's scoring. Rubel's had four-straight double figure games since Littleford went down.
The Series
Saturday is the second half of a home-and-home series with the Skyhawks. UT Martin won last year's December meeting, 67-61, in Vermillion.
