BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota senior
Lydia Knapp captured the women's discus throw on Saturday at the SDSU Holiday Open inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Knapp, competing unattached in the competition, sent the discus 164-4 (50.10m) to capture the event title. Senior
Meredith Clark finished runner-up with a throw of 146-7 (44.68m). Knapp won the weight throw on Friday, while Clark took first in the shot put.
On the men's side, sophomore
Quincy Warren led the Coyotes with a fourth-place finish. He sent the discus 154-9 (47.16m). Redshirt-sophomore
Tristan Gray was fifth in 153-9 (46.87m).
South Dakota swept the women's and men's team titles. The Coyote women scored 166.5 points to runner-up South Dakota State's 123 points. USD's men edged out second-place South Dakota State 148 to 144 to win.
The Coyotes resume action after the holiday break with Iowa's Black & Gold Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa, on Jan. 12.
