Two weeks and four games remain in the regular season and second place and seventh place in the Summit League standings are separated by 1.5 games. South Dakota and Omaha are two of those teams jockeying for position. The Coyotes beat the Mavericks 70-63 in Omaha back on Jan. 14 in a game Omaha led by as many as 13 in the first half. It was South Dakota's 11th straight win in a series that has been one-sided at the Division I level.
Â
That said, it is Omaha that has won three of its last four games to climb within a half game of South Dakota in the standings while the Coyotes are trying to snap a four-game losing skid. South Dakota is hoping these final two home games will turn the teams' fortune and build momentum ahead of the Summit League Tournament.

The Coyotes
Game one in Omaha was the
Carley Duffney coming out party. The redshirt freshman from Wisconsin reentered USD's starting lineup and scored a season-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Duffney hasn't left the lineup since. She has averaged 16.4 points and 5.4 rebounds over seven games. Only
Grace Larkins, the Coyotes' leader in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, has better numbers in that span.
Â
The Mavericks
Grace Cave had 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting and eight rebounds against South Dakota. She is averaging 10 points per game and leads the Mavs in steals. Aaliyah Stanley, the Florida Gulf Coast transfer, is Omaha's second-leading scorer at nearly 12 points per game.
Â
The focal point for UNO is fifth-year senior post Elena Pilakouta who is shooting 62 percent from the field, seventh-best nationally. She was 7-for-7 against USD in game one, but the Coyotes kept her off the free-throw line, gave her one offensive rebound and forced her into four turnovers. Pilakouta had 30 points and 15 rebounds in a shootout with Oral Roberts five games ago.
