SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—South Dakota sophomore pitcher Clara Edwards has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Pitcher of the Week for the period ended April 16. It is the fourth career honor for Edwards, who hails from Clay Center, Kansas.
 
Edwards tossed the program's first no-hitter since 2009 and drove in two runs in a 3-0 win against Western Illinois Saturday at Nygaard Field. She came back to pitch the series-clinching win on Sunday, a 10-2, six-inning victory against the Leathernecks, to move to 12-7 on the season. Her 28 career pitching victories are 10^th-most in program history.
 
Edwards is the first Coyote to throw a no-hitter against a Division I opponent and joins alumna Brittany Donohue (2009) and Angela Palma (2005) as USD pitchers who have thrown no-hitters since 2000.
 
At the plate, Edwards was 2-for-2 with a two-run single in Saturday's win. She drove in a third run Sunday on a squeeze bunt. Edwards had more RBIs (3) than runs allowed (2) in 12 1/3 innings of work during the series.
 
South Dakota stands in second place in the Summit League standings with an 8-3 record. The Coyotes take on Omaha in a three-game series in Nebraska this weekend.
