South Dakota seniors Taylor Ravelo and Ashby Johnston were named to the Summit League Players to Watch list for the 2023 season Tuesday.
 
Ravelo, a defender for the Coyotes, started all 18 matches last season where she scored three goals and had five shots on goal to secure a 2022 honorable mention from the Summit League. Her freshman year, Ravelo was an All-Region Honoree. This is the second straight year Ravelo has been named to the Summit League's Players to Watch list.
 
Johnston, a forward for the Coyotes, started in 16 matches last season and scored four goals, one of which secured a comeback victory for the Coyotes against St. Thomas on Oct. 9.
 
Over their Coyote careers, Ravelo has played in 53 games, scored nine goals and one assist and Johnston has played in 30 games, scored six goals and two assists.
 
The 2023 season gets underway on Thursday against Utah Tech. The opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex in Vermillion.
