Brock Mogensen is one of 39 semifinalists representing FCS football for the 2023 William V. Campbell Trophy, college football's premier scholar-athlete award.

Candidates for the awards must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2, have outstanding football ability, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. Mogensen and North Dakota's Ben McNaboe are the lone candidates from the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

Mogensen is a two-time preseason all-American and two-time all-conference linebacker from Farmington, Minnesota. He has earned a degree in kinesiology and sport management and minored in coaching. He currently serves as the MVFC representative for the Football Oversight Committee.

Mogensen recently became the eighth player in program history to surpass 300 career tackles. He has been voted a team captain in each of the last two seasons. His career numbers include two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. Off the field, he volunteers with local Boys and Girls clubs throughout the area and is heavily involved with the St. Thomas More Newman Center through discipleship and Bible study.

The National Football Foundation (NFF) will announce 12-14 finalists from a field of 201 college football players from all levels on Oct. 25, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship. They will travel to the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the 65
th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 5, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports.
