Coyotes’ road swing starts in the Twin Cities

The Game

South Dakota women's basketball travels to St. Thomas for a game at 7 p.m. Thursday inside Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota.

A live stream of the game will be available on the Summit League Network available via the Midco Sports Plus app. A radio broadcast from the Coyote Sports Network with Jerry Palleschi will be available on KVTK 101.5.

The Coyotes

South Dakota (12-6, 1-2 Summit) comes off its bye weekend with a tough road trip that starts at a St. Thomas squad that defeated Oral Roberts two days after the Coyotes' loss to the Golden Eagles.

Junior guard Grace Larkins is coming off a 20 point, 10 assist, eight rebound effort against ORU. Her 10 assists were a career high and marked the first time in exactly four years to the day that a Coyote had recorded 10 assists in a game (Ciara Duffy, 01/11/20). She was also a perfect 10-for-10 from the line, becoming the first player to make 10 or more free throws without a miss since Allison Arens (12/19/17). Larkins is one of four players nationally averaging more than 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game for the season. Junior guard Kendall Holmes scored a season-best 21 points last time out with five 3-pointers. It marked the first time this season two Coyotes had scored 20 points in a game.

The Tommies

St. Thomas (11-7, 3-1 Summit) also played Oral Roberts last time out, with junior guard Jade Hill knocking down a buzzer beater to defeat the Golden Eagles 73-72. The Tommies were picked eighth in the Summit League's Preseason Poll, but the squad sits third in the Summit's standings entering the week.

Amber Scalia is in the middle of a breakout sophomore campaign for the Tommies, ranking third in the Summit in points per game (17.0). Hill, a third-year starter, is second on the team and seventh in the Summit at 14.6 points per game. Hill is also second only to Larkins in assists per game (4.3).

The Series

South Dakota leads the all-time series 3-1 with St. Thomas winning the last meeting 70-64. Both games a year ago came down to the wire with the road team winning each time.
