Coyotes post win over Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota dropped just six sets during singles play and came away with a 7-0 women's tennis dual win over Sioux Falls on Friday morning inside Huether Family Match Pointe.

The Coyotes, now 2-1, swept through the Cougars, a NCAA Division II school out of the Northern Sun Conference, who were playing an exhibition match.

"I thought we played a good clean match today," coach Brett Barnett said. "USF has a good solid team and they made us hit a lot of balls and work which was perfect.

"I like how we played aggressively and stuck to how we want to play on each court."

Bea Havlickova, a junior, returned to the lineup after missing the opening weekend and posted a double bagel victory at No. 1 singles.

Amanda de Oliveira, Sorcha Caves, Anna Medvyedyeva, Grace Chadick and Hitakamya Narwal all won singles matches for South Dakota.

Havlickova and Caves posted a win at No. 1 doubles, Chadick and Medvyedyeva won at No. 2 doubles and de Oliveira and Narwal triumphed at No. 3 doubles.

"It's been a good week so far and we have a chance on Sunday to get a little better and compete hard against a good K State team."

South Dakota closes the week with a road match in Manhattan, Kansas on Sunday against Kansas State.
