Coyotes return home, host Idaho State in Big Sky-Summit Challenge

The Game

South Dakota returns home to host Idaho State for a game at 1 p.m. Saturday inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion, South Dakota. Saturday is the Coyotes' annual Alumni Game honoring the tradition of South Dakota women's basketball dating back to 1971.

A live stream of the game will be available on the Summit League Network available via the Midco Sports Plus app. A radio broadcast from the Coyote Sports Network with Jerry Palleschi will be available on KVHT 106.3.

The Coyotes

South Dakota (11-5, 1-1 Summit) dropped the first game of the challenge 74-61 at Montana. The Coyotes led for 30 minutes of game time, but the Lady Griz ended the game on a 19-2 run to win.

Preseason all-Summit pick Grace Larkins leads the Coyotes with 16.6 points and 7. 2 rebounds per game. The junior was named the Summit League December Peak Performer of the Month on Thursday afternoon. Larkins finished one point and one assist shy of a triple-double on Wednesday night. Junior guard Kendall Holmes joins her in double figures with 10.6 points per game. Holmes led the Coyotes in Missoula with 15 points and four 3-point makes.

The Bengals

Idaho State (4-8) also dropped its first first game of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge. The Bengals fell 78-72 to North Dakota on Wednesday night at home. ISU trailed by 13 points with two minutes remaining in the game, making five field goals down the stretch in an 11-4 run that fell short of taking the lead. UND's four points in the run came at the free-throw line. The game was Idaho State's third-largest scoring output this season.

The Bengals' leading scorer Maria Dias comes off the bench. She played two seasons at the College of the Sequoias (California) before arriving in Pocatello. She has scored at least 13 points in each of her last four games.

The Series

South Dakota and Idaho State first met during a home-and-home series in 2011 and 2012. The road team won both games.
