SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After recording five points in South Dakota women's soccer's first conference victory of the 2024 season, junior midfielder
Izzy Quintavalle won the Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week for the week ending on Oct. 6.
Quintavalle had an outstanding performance Sunday afternoon at First Bank & Trust Soccer Complex in Vermillion, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist in a 4-2 win over Kansas City. Quintavalle played a season-high 78 minutes in the victory, helping give South Dakota head coach
Michael Thomas his 50
th win at USD, a program record.
Quintavalle scored the first goal of Sunday's contest as a Kansas City defender tried to pass a ball out of the box and kicked it right to Quintavalle, who booted it past the keeper for the first score of the contest.
After the Roos took a 2-1 lead early into the second half, Quintavalle played clean up for a second time. South Dakota's
Sam Luft sent a corner kick into the box that Kansas City was unable to clear out and Quintavalle sent it past the diving keeper for her second goal of the match. She assisted on the fourth USD goal of the match, a long range shot from
Janaina Zanin.
Quintavalle doubled her season total in goals and now leads the Coyotes with four goals on the season. In Sunday's match, she set season highs in shots (3), shots on goal (2), goals (2), and points (5). In Thursday's match against Omaha, Quintavalle played 69 minutes in a 1-0 loss, recording one shot.
The Coyotes are back in action Friday night against rival South Dakota State. USD and SDSU kick-off at 6 p.m. in Brookings, S.D.
