South Dakota falls to Nebraska at Sanford Pentagon

VERMILLION, S.D. – The Coyotes faced former head coach Amy Williams for the first time, and it was Williams' No. 21/20 Huskers who prevailed 113-70 inside the Sanford Pentagon Saturday night.

Grace Larkins continued her hot start to the season by pouring in 28 points, adding six assists and five rebounds. Larkins has scored 20-plus points in three of four games so far this season and has dished out six assists in each of the first four games.

Alexi Hempe added 14 points, tying a career best in three-pointers made with four. The 14 points is a season-higg. Carley Duffney added 10 points, making it nine straight games scoring in double figures dating back to last season.

Hempe started out fast for the Coyotes, sinking two three-pointers and helping the Coyotes keep pace with Nebraska in early parts of the first quarter. Hempe totaled eight points in the first five-and-a-half minutes.

The Huskers pulled away in the final four minutes of the quarter to lead by double digits after one, and the lead only grew from there. The Coyotes couldn't find an answer for the high-powered Nebraska offense that shot 63% from the field and 58% from beyond the arc in the game. South Dakota shot 41% from the field and hit one-third of their three-point attempts (10-30).

South Dakota (0-4) hosts Bellevue Monday at 11 a.m. for Education Day. Over 1,000 elementary and middle schoolers will be in attendance.

Notables:
• South Dakota now sits at 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in neutral site games.
