VERMILLION, S.D. — The South Dakota volleyball team earned a Senior Day sweep over Oral Roberts Saturday afternoon in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Senior
Kylen Sealock led the Coyote attack with a match high 19 kills on a .275 hitting percentage.
Senior
Cheyenne Hlady put away 10 kills on 21 swings (.429%) and had one block, while seniors
Alaina Wolff had eight digs and
Barrett Power had three assists.
Lauren Medeck was the most efficient hitter for the Yotes, terminating 10 kills on a .526 attack rate with no errors and had a double-double with 10 digs.
Avery Van Hook recorded a double-double with 37 assists and 11 digs.
Kamryn Farris had a match-high 19 digs, one ace and four assists.
Sealock started the match off strong, registering kills for three of USD's first five points. Sealock began a 6-1 run in the middle of the set, as the Yotes began to take control of the frame with a 17-10 lead. A Sealock kill put the Yotes on set point with her eighth termination of the first set, and
Morgan Bode sealed the set one win with a kill on the slide. Hlady put down four kills on five swings, while Medeck had three on six, and Wolff dug up four attacks in the opener.
Momentum carried over for the Yotes into set two, as they scored the first four points of the second. For a second set in a row, the Yotes put together a lengthy run, this time to the tune of an 11-2 run to go up 22-9. Medeck tallied two aces in the run, Hlady had back-to-back kills and Sealock had a kill and a block. Set two ended in near identical fashion to the first set, as Sealock put moved the Yotes to set point and Bode slammed home point 25 to give the Yotes a 2-0 lead in the match. Medeck did a little bit of everything for the Yotes in the second, tallying four kills on seven swings, three digs and two aces.
Amanda Loschen, Medeck and Hlady each put away two kills as they fueled an 8-1 Yotes swing to go up 12-9 edge in the third set. Trailing by one late in the set, 21-20, the South Dakota senior outside hitters closed out the Senior Day sweep as Hlady put away back-to-back kills and Sealock put down three in a row to win the set 25-22 and the match 3-0. Sealock registered seven kills in the third on 14 swings, Hlady had four and Medeck and Loschen had three each.
South Dakota will hit the road for the next three matches starting next Thursday in Fargo, N.D. when they take on North Dakota State at 5:30 p.m.
