Lombard Picks Up MVFC Offensive Lineman of the Week Recognition

11.25.2024

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Another award coming the way of the Coyotes Monday afternoon as center Joey Lombard was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) Offensive Lineman of the Week after the 29-28 win over No. 1-ranked North Dakota State, the league office announced.

Lombard (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) graded out with a 91.0 PFF grade after the offense put up 390 total yards of offense against the stout Bison defense on Saturday. He and the offensive line awarded protection to Bouman to put together those two touchdown drives in the final four-plus minutes to secure the 11-point comeback victory.

In those final two drives, the O-line gave Bouman enough time to complete four explosive plays of 20+ yards. Those four plays included touchdown grabs by Jack Martens (40 yards) and the game-winner by Javion Phelps (25 yards).

The 390 yards of offense on the day was the most surrendered by the NDSU defense against FCS opponents this season.

The Anoka, Minnesota native has started at center all 11 games this season for the Coyotes and is a team captain.

A special Senior Day for Lombard and the rest of the 2024 class saw the final regular season game end with a thrilling win over the No. 1-ranked team to claim the program's first Valley title, claiming a share of the 2024 title.

Lombard now brings the South Dakota total up to six weekly honors on the season. The Coyotes have now won each of the weekly awards at least once this season (Offensive, Defensive, Newcomer, Special Teams, and Offensive Lineman).
