VERMILLION, S.D. — The University of South Dakota men's basketball team (6-2) cruised to a 112-50 victory over Randall University (Okla.) (3-3) Monday night inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center (SCSC).
Paul Bruns (Sr., North Sioux City, S.D.) connected on a deep ball on the opening possession of the contest on his way to a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor in the first half to lead all scorers with 17 first half points.
The Coyotes would score the first six points of the contest and would jump out to a quick 16-3 lead in the first five minutes and would never look back. South Dakota would put up 60 points in the first half, aided by 10 Coyotes putting points on the board in the first 20 minutes.
The second half was more of the same with the Yotes running away with the contest. Six Yotes posted double figures in the win. Bruns led all scorers with 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting in just eight minutes on the floor.
Jevon Hill (R-So., Wichita, Kan.) had a career-best 18 points, while
Jalen Hayes (R-Fr., Richfield, Minn.) posted his first-career double-digit game with 11 points.
The Coyotes shot 62.0% (44-for-71) from the floor and 43.2% (16-for-37) from deep, while holding the Saints to under 30% shooting on the night.
UP NEXT: South Dakota will head down to Lincoln, Nebraska on Wednesday for their second clash with a Big Ten school on the year when they meet the Nebraska Cornhuskers inside Pinnacle Bank Arena at 5:30 p.m.
