South Dakota track and field athletes will be traveling to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational this weekend held at the Devaney Center. Action gets started with the combined events at noon Friday. Running events kick off Saturday's events at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Coyotes
South Dakota is back at Nebraska for its second of three meets in Lincoln this season. The Coyotes are coming off the USD Alumni Meet where they competed in front of the home crowd.

Junior pole vaulters
Cassidy Mooneyhan and
Eerik Haamer captured Summit League Peak Performers of the Week, sweeping the weekly field honors. Mooneyhan tied her personal best of 14-2 (4.32m) to win the vault at the USD Alumni Meet and move to 12th in the nation. Haamer vaulted a season-best 17-3 ¾ (5.28m) as the top collegiate finisher and move to 29th nationally.

There were 10 updates to the Coyote Top 10 last week, including three in the men's heptathlon competition. Junior
Derek Eidsness won the event with a score of 5,034 points that marked the fourth-best total in program history.

South Dakota has three events ranked in the USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings this season. The women's pole vault squad are ranked No. 4, the men's pole vault squad are ranked No. 5 and the men's heptathlon squad is ranked No. 5.

The Competition
This weekend's field includes athletes from 23 different schools. Other Division I programs in the field include Nebraska, Baylor, Cincinnati, Kansas, Missouri State, Northern Colorado, Utah, Washington and Wichita State.

South Dakota will have a split squad next weekend, Feb. 9-10 between three meets. The Coyotes are set to compete at Washington's Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington, Arkansas' Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and South Dakota State's Classic in Brookings, South Dakota.
