Tyson Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—The quartet of fourth-year junior
Jacy Pulse, junior
Anna Robinson, fourth-year junior
Erin Kinney and fourth-year junior
Sara Reifenrath smashed South Dakota's 4x400-meter relay school record on Saturday at the Tyson Invitational held at Randal Tyson Track Center.
South Dakota finished fourth in the race with a time of 3:34.54, besting the previous record by eight seconds. Pulse recorded a split of 53.60 seconds, Robinson clocked 53.46 seconds, Kinney posted a time of 54.88 seconds and Reifenrath clocked a time of 52.61 seconds. Reifenrath is one removed from her new school record of 52.95 seconds in the 400 open. The Coyotes have the 18th-best mark by a school this season in the relay.
Junior
Joe Lynch won the high jump competition with a personal best clearance of 6-11 (2.11m).
Alumna Emily Grove won the elite women's pole vault competition with a height of 14-6 ¼ (4.43m). She was joined in the elite field by
Marleen Mülla, who finished fourth in 13-10 ½ (4.23m),
Cassidy Mooneyhan in fifth with the same height, and fourth-year junior
Jaidyn Garrett's season-ebst 13-6 ½ (4.13m)
In the open women's pole vault field, sophomore
Alayna Falak took third in 13-2 ½ (4.03m) and freshman
Kailee Swart was fourth at the same height.
Junior
Danii Anglin took third in the invitational field for the women's high jump. She cleared 5-11 ¼ (1.81m) on Saturday.
Husky Classic
SEATTLE, Wash.—South Dakota fifth-year senior
Ella Byers posted the second-best mile time in the Summit on Saturday at the Husky Classic held Dempsey Indoor Track.
Byers clocked a season-best time of 4:48.40 for the mile, finishing 38th in the competitive field. Freshman
Madison Brouwer clocked 4:52.82 meters.
Byers also led the way in the 800 meters, clocking 2:12.33 to Brouwer's 2:14.54. Byers was 30th in the 800-meter race.
SDSU Classic
BROOKINGS, S.D.—While her teammates were busy breaking the record for the 4x400-meter relay in Arkansas, sophomore
Caelyn Valandra-Prue focused in and finished runner-up in the open 400 meters at the SDSU Classic inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Valandra-Prue clocked a time of 56.10 seconds for 400 meters to finish runner-up in the field.
Junior
Averi Schmeichel finished runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles with a clocking of 8.54 seconds, just shy of South Dakota's program record.
Sophomore
Matayah YellowMule took third in the high jump with a clearance of 5-6 (1.68m). YellowMule had also qualified for the final of the 60-meter hurdles by clocking 8.93 seconds in the preliminaries.
Fourth-year junior
Ethan Heitman took fifth in the high jump with a clearance is 6-6 (1.98m).
South Dakota is back in Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Nebraska Tune-Up next Friday, Feb. 16.
