Coyotes clipped by Idaho, 4-3

LARAMIE, Wyoming – South Dakota women's tennis team was clipped by Idaho, 4-3, inside the Wyoming Tennis Complex on Sunday.

The Vandals (4-3) won all three doubles matches to take the doubles point and then proceeded to split the singles matches to claim the victory.

South Dakota, falling to 3-6, received singles wins from Bea Havlickova, Anna Medvyedyeva and Selena Bird.

Medvyedyeva, a sophomore, rallied from a set down to claim the last two sets, 6-0, 6-4, for the win at No. 3 singles. That moves her to 3-0 at that spot this spring and 5-3 for the dual season.

Havlickova, a junior, also rallied from a set down to win a three-set match at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Bird, a sophomore, also followed script, dropping the first set, before winning the third-set tiebreak, 10-5, to post a victory at No. 6 singles.

It was Bird's 11 individual win of the overall season while Medvyedyeva and Havlickova reached double figures with their 10th individual victories of the year.

South Dakota faces a Thursday evening road test at Nebraska with a 5 p.m. first serve.
