SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota junior pitcher Clara Edwards has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
 
Edwards, a Clay Center, Kansas, native, was outstanding in her three starts at the Panther Invitational hosted by Georgia State over the weekend.
 
She totaled 20 innings, three complete games, allowing just one earned run while yielding 14 hits and striking out 15.
 
She fired a complete game shutout against Georgia State on day one, allowing four hits while walking three and striking out five.
 
She notched a second straight complete game shutout in her next start against Butler, yielding six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
 
She was the hard luck losing pitcher in a 1-0 decision to Belmont on Sunday allowing one earned run on four hits with one walk and a season high eight strikeouts.
 
Edwards now has 14 career shutouts and 33 career wins at South Dakota, which travels to Commerce, Texas for the Lion Invitational this weekend.
