VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota (15-19, 0-2 Summit) fell to South Dakota State (18-18, 2-0 Summit) in both games of today's doubleheader. It was day one of the two-day series hosted by the Coyotes to open Summit League play.

On the cold and windy day in Vermillion, reigning Summit League Pitcher of the Year Tori Kniesche pitched a no-hitter against the Yotes while the Jackrabbit offense brought in eight runs. South Dakota held SDSU to just one run in the first inning and no runs in the second inning, but the Jacks scored at least once in each of the following five innings.

Kori Wedeking was in the pitcher's circle for the Coyotes and threw five strikeouts on the day. Wedeking is now 6-6 on the season. Â

The Coyotes put two hits on the board in game two with a double from
Autumn Iversen and a hit from
Alexia Terrazas. The Jacks scored early in the first to take the lead and extended it out in the top of the seventh inning with three runs.

Clara Edwards took a turn in the pitcher's circle in game two and threw four strikeouts. Edwards is 5-9 on the season.

The Coyotes and Jackrabbits will face off for one more game tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Nygaard Field.
