The Meet
South Dakota track & field has qualified a pair of pole vaulters for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships held March 8-9 at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Massachusetts. Both the women's and men's pole vault will take place on Friday.
Live coverage of the championship meet will be streamed on ESPN+ starting at 8:30 a.m. Central on Friday. There will be a re-air of the championships at 8 p.m. Monday, March 11, on ESPNU.
The Coyotes
South Dakota has two of the Summit League's three qualifiers for the NCAA meet.
Junior
Marleen Mülla qualifies for the NCAA Indoor Championships for the third-straight season. Mülla, who hails from Rakvere, Estonia, enters the meet with the sixth-best height of 14-7 ¼ (4.45m). She posted her qualifying mark at the Nebraska Tune-Up two weeks ago. Mülla garnered all-Summit League honors at the league meet this past weekend. She's a five-time All-American in the pole vault. She placed third at the 2023 NCAA Indoor meet.
Fifth-year senior
Marshall Faurot makes his first appearance at the national indoor meet. Faurot, a native of Scott City, Kansas, is tied for the 12th-best mark entering the meet at 18-1 ¼ (5.52m). The mark is a career best for Faurot, which he cleared to win the pole vault at the Summit League Championship meet this past weekend. Faurot was named the Summit League Most Outstanding Performer of the Championships earlier this week. This marks his second appearance at a national meet, previously qualifying for the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

The Competition
South Dakota will compete against the nation's best. To qualify for this meet, athletes must have a mark that ranks in the top-16 nationally of their respective event at the conclusion of the season.
