OMAHA, Neb. – South Dakota (18-23, 3-5 Summit) fell to Creighton (23-16, 8-4 Big East) in a single-game matchup in Omaha.
The Coyotes took an early 2-0 when
Delaney White singled and brought in
Alivia Conte and
Rylie Jones.
South Dakota held the lead through the top of the sixth inning, but Creighton had a big bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs to take a big lead. The Yotes weren't able to score again in the top of the seventh inning and the Bluejays took the win.
Clara Edwards started in the pitcher's circle for South Dakota and pitched the first three innings, throwing four strikeouts.
McKenna Young,
Madi Mangulis, and
Kori Wedeking each pitched an inning for the Yotes.
Kenzie Schopfer and Natalia Puchino split the win for Creighton on the pitcher's mound. Schopfer threw four strikeouts and Puchino threw three.
With her two RBI today, White now has 17 RBI on the season for the Coyotes.
South Dakota returns home to resume Summit League play as they host Omaha on Saturday and Sunday in Vermillion.
