VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota head volleyball coach
Leanne Williamson is pleased to announce the addition of Cheyenne Hlady to the roster for the 2024 fall campaign.
Â
Hlady, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, joins the Coyotes as a graduate transfer from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Â
"I am so excited to add Cheyenne to our Coyote family," said Williamson. "It was clear early on in the process that she would be a great fit for our program. Cheyenne has played multiple positions, but I believe her ability to block and score points on the right side is going to be a great addition for us. As a person and a student, she will fit right in with our team and the culture that we have built here. Coyote fans will love watching Cheyenne play!"
Â
Hlady saw action in 64 sets in 24 matches played in two seasons at UTSA. As an opposite, she totaled 64 kills and 53 blocks in two seasons as a Roadrunner. Hlady spent her freshman season at Youngstown State in Ohio, where she played in 41 sets over 14 matches as a middle blocker. She totaled 40 kills and 37 blocks and led the Penguins in blocks per set (0.90).
Â
The 6-2 hitter prepped at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary school where she was the MVP of the volleyball team for four-straight years. Hlady helped lead her squad to a provincial championship and a national silver medal in 2019. She was an Ontario All-Star selection in 2019 and was selected to play for Team Ontario Europe in 2019 and 2020.
