Coyotes have five earn All-Summit recognition

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota placed five softball players on the All-Summit League teams Tuesday following a vote by the league's head coaches.
 
Tatum Villotta was named to the second team while four players – Clara Edwards, Delaney White, Alivia Conte and Gabby Moser were honorable mention selections.
 
Villotta (Blair, Neb.) earned second team honors for the second time in her career as the junior led the Coyotes with a .274 average and 17 hits in 17 league games. She contributed five runs scored and six RBIs. The middle infielder started all 50 games and led the team with 52 hits and 22 runs scored while producing a .289 average.
 
Edwards (Clay Center, Kan.) earned all-league honors for the third time in her career as the junior made nine starts in league play and posted a 2.22 earned run average with a 3-4 record over 53 innings of work. Edwards made 26 starts overall and was 8-12 on the season with a 2.39 earned run average. She also tied for the team lead with 15 walks draw as a batter who ranked second on the team with four home runs.
 
Moser (Central City, Neb.) also becomes a three-time all-league selection as the senior hit two of the Coyotes three home runs during league play and finished with a .245 average. Moser led the Coyotes with nine doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBIs and hit .282 while starting all 50 games in the outfield.
 
White (Lincoln, Neb.) earns all-conference honors for the first time as the sophomore tied for the team high in league play with seven RBIs while posting a .259 average. While ranked second on the team with 22 Rbis and had a .270 average overall while starting 49 of the team's 50 games.
 
Conte (Maineville, Ohio) was named to the all-league team for the first time as the senior made the most of her starting opportunities and hit .239 in league play with a team high seven runs scored. She started 36 of the team's 50 games and led the way with a .315 average.
 
South Dakota is the fourth seed and will face fifth-seeded North Dakota in its Summit League tournament opener at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
