Loomis-Goltl transfers to South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's basketball coach Carrie Eighmey has announced the addition of transfer Ruthie Loomis-Goltl from Colorado. She redshirted this past season with the Buffaloes and will have four seasons of eligibility at USD.

"We are very excited about the addition of Ruthie to our program!" said Eighmey. "She brings great size, length, athleticism, and versatility. She has the ability to be a great defender and rim protector, while also providing an inside presence in the paint on offense. She's super coachable and a great teammate. We can't wait to have her as a Yote!"

Loomis-Goltl spent the 2023-24 season practicing with a top-25 Colorado squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.

A 6-foot-3 center from Bridgeport, Nebraska, Loomis-Goltl scored 2,075 career points, grabbed more than 800 rebounds and blocked more than 400 shots during her prep career at Bridgeport High School. She led the Bulldogs to a 94-12 career record. The Bulldogs finished as the Nebraska Class C-2 runner-up in 2022.

Loomis-Goltl was a four-star recruit by ESPNW and was ranked No. 78 in the 2023 class by ESPN.

Other awards include being named the Western Trails Conference MVP thrice, the MaxPreps Nerbaska Freshman of the Year, and a finalist for Omaha World Herald's High School Athlete of the Year in 2022.
