Pulse moves onto semifinals at U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore.—South Dakota senior Jacy Pulse extended her season on Thursday evening by advancing to the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials held at Hayward Field.

Pulse clocked a time of 56.99 seconds to move on to Saturday's semifinals scheduled for 7:41 p.m. on NBC. This marked her fourth time clocking sub-57 seconds for the 400-meter hurdles this spring.

Pulse hails from Salem, South Dakota, with a population below 1,500 people. She was a two-time All-American in the 400 hurdles for South Dakota. She set the Coyotes' program record in the event last year with a clocking of 56.11 seconds at the NCAA West Preliminary. She was named the Summit League Female Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year.

South Dakota alumnus Chris Nilsen made Team USA last weekend in the men's pole vault. Nilsen qualifies for his second-straight Olympics after earning a silver medal in Tokyo. Alumna Emily Grove competes in the women's pole vault qualifying tomorrow night with the final set for Sunday.
